Ewing Aerospace Launches BlueUAS Approved H7 Flight Controller

Ewing Aerospace has officially launched its new H7 Flight Controller, a U.S.-made, NDAA-compliant platform now approved under the BlueUAS Framework. The H7 represents the next generation of reliable, secure, and high-performance avionics — built for both commercial and defense-grade unmanned systems.

A Flight Controller Designed for Trusted Systems

At the heart of the H7 is an ARM Cortex-M7 processor delivering high-speed control loops, redundant sensor fusion, and full CAN-FD support for modern drone and UAV architectures. Available with both Betaflight and Ardupilot targets and support for GPS-denied IMU based navigation. Every unit is designed, assembled, and tested in Ewing Aerospace’s Ohio facility, ensuring traceable, secure U.S. manufacturing from board to firmware.

As part of the BlueUAS Framework, the H7 has passed the review process to be recognized as an approved component for Department of Defense (DoD) and federal applications — meaning integrators and program managers can confidently source it for compliant unmanned systems without the delays and risks of foreign-origin hardware.

“We wanted to deliver a flight controller that not only performs at the highest technical level, but also meets the trust and compliance requirements our customers face,” said Tanner Ewing, President of Engineering & Manufacturing. “The H7 was built from the ground up to satisfy both — powerful, flexible, and fully NDAA-compliant.”

Built in America for Mission-Critical Performance

Ewing Aerospace has been building electronics and aerospace systems since 2011, specializing in advanced manufacturing, PCB assembly, and flight-critical hardware. The H7 continues that heritage with features such as:

  • BlueUAS Framework Approval — Verified under DIU’s BlueUAS program for secure integration in U.S. defense and enterprise UAV systems.

  • NDAA-Compliant Components — Fully manufactured and assembled in the U.S. with controlled supply-chain traceability.

  • High-Speed H7 Architecture — 480 MHz processing power for rapid stabilization, sensor fusion, and communication tasks.

  • Advanced I/O & Redundancy — Dual Camera Support, CAN-FD, UART, SPI, I2C, SBUS and PWM outputs for modular and fault-tolerant flight systems.

  • Extended Availability & Support — Designed for long-term production with OEM customization, documentation, and lifecycle management.

Advancing U.S.-Made UAV Technology

The H7 joins a growing lineup of NDAA-compliant components from Ewing Aerospace including the BlueLRS radio platform, 80A CAN-bus ESC, and other upcoming systems designed for interoperability within the BlueUAS ecosystem.

“Our customers in defense, public safety, and advanced commercial aviation are increasingly demanding trusted, U.S.-origin technology,” Ewing added. “This flight controller is a direct response to that demand. It’s built here, it’s secure, and it’s ready to fly.”
